Things to Know

This will be a list of good ideas to use in the classroom.

This is an idea for lower elementary teachers
and librarians to try to keep students from
getting too loud, quiet spray.  There is nothing
in the bottle but air.  Just take any empty spray
bottle, label it, and you are ready to go.

First, explain why students sometimes need
to be quiet: an announcement comes on, a
visitor is at the door, it is silent reading time,
 etc. (maybe use Deborah Underwood's
The Quiet Book). It's important that students
know they are not in trouble and can talk in
the classroom under normal circumstances.
Introduce your students to the quiet spray
that will help them remember to quiet, or
that has magical powers to help them be quiet
(whatever works for you).  **You might want
to state beforehand that the spray only works
 on students.**

If you are in a lab, or even if you're not, it may be
a good idea to label all of the cords you have
connected to computers or power strips. There are
many products for this purpose, but I've found a
simple, affordable solution. Use bread ties and
a marker to make your own cord labels.
